Just realized I’ve been using the same password for 12 years across 30 accounts.

I only caught it when my email got hacked last Tuesday and someone tried to order $400 worth of protein powder to my apartment, and now I’m resetting everything with a manager at work tomorrow, has anyone else had to deal with the fallout from something this stupid?

Dude that's rough, but honestly you're not alone in this trap. It's wild how we all get so comfortable with bad habits online just because nothing bad has happened yet. Think about it, we lock our front doors every night but then use the same password for everything including banking and email for a decade. It's like leaving your house key under the mat for the whole neighborhood to find.

And like, what's the breaking point for most people? Because I know a guy who got his Instagram hacked and he just shrugged it off, made a new account same password. But someone else loses their email once and suddenly they're using a password manager and two factor on everything. It seems like there's no middle ground, you either stay careless until you get burned or you get burned and overcorrect. Is it just about how much damage the first real hack does to you personally? I wonder if most people would actually change their habits if they got a warning instead of having to learn the hard way.
