Just lost $150 on a 'lifetime' VPN subscription that shut down after 8 months
Has anyone else had a good experience with a more reliable VPN service they'd actually recommend?

Lifetime deals are the biggest red flag in tech. It's like buying a "forever" sandwich, you know it's going bad fast. I got burned on a cloud storage one that folded before the year was out. Been using Mullvad for a couple years now, no funny business. They don't even ask for your email, which says a lot.

Doubt it's that serious, @felix_martin56.

Is it really that serious though? I mean yeah some lifetime deals are sketchy but not all of them are scams waiting to happen. I get that cloud storage one was a dud but that's more about picking the wrong company than the whole idea being bad. Mullvad's a solid VPN sure but they don't even offer a lifetime plan so it's a different thing entirely. Sometimes people just get unlucky and it colors their whole view. Not every deal is gonna fold in a year, some last just fine.
