I called those little USB data blockers a waste of $12, then my brother plugged a random flash drive into my laptop
My brother found a flash drive in a parking lot in Akron and plugged it into my work laptop to see whose it was. Nothing happened, or so we thought. Two days later the IT guy asked why my machine was reaching out to an IP in Belarus. Nothing bad got in, but only because the drive failed to run its payload. I ordered a pack of those little USB condoms the same night. Now every spare port on my bag has one. Anyone had a close call where the cheap fix actually mattered?
