From a train station in Italy, I learned to always lock my devices before walking away.

A quick screen lock saved my laptop from a curious stranger.

Seriously! This is so true everywhere now, not just trains. People get way too comfortable leaving their phones on cafe tables or laptops open in libraries. We trust strangers not to mess with our stuff, but it takes two seconds for someone to see something private or just mess up your work. I make it a habit to lock anything the second I stand up, even at home. That little bit of paranoia saves you from so much potential trouble.

Learned that one the clumsy way.

You don't lock your stuff at home? That's wild. I've got roommates, man. Never know who might wander through. Basic security is just habit now.
