Finally got my mom to use a password manager last weekend in Phoenix
My mom is 67 and has used the same password for everything since like 2012, so last weekend when I visited her in Phoenix I sat down with her and set up a password manager on her laptop. It took almost two hours and she wrote the master password on a sticky note (which I made her put in a fire safe instead), but she now has 14 different passwords for 14 different sites. Today she called me because she got a text saying her bank account was locked, and she checked the real bank site herself and saw it was a fake. What finally worked for you all when trying to get a parent or older relative to take this stuff seriously?
Took me three visits to my dad's place in Tucson before he stopped using "Fluffy2011" for his email and his banking. Getting him to actually check the real site himself like your mom did is the whole ballgame, that's a bigger win than the password manager.
