Showerthought: I paid $75 for a "CSS audit" tool that flagged 4,000 false issues
Bought a subscription to some speed audit tool in January hoping it would catch layout bugs on my roofing company's site, and it told me I had 4,000 critical CSS errors. Turns out it was counting normal browser defaults like margin on h1 and padding on ul, stuff every site on earth has. Spent a whole Saturday chasing ghost fixes before I checked the code myself and realized the tool was just flagging baseline stylesheets. Anybody else get burned by an automated audit that cries wolf like this, or is there one that actually catches real overflow and z-index junk?
