Rant: that viral CSS reset everyone loves broke our form buttons

Saw a dev on another forum swearing by a 5 line reset that nukes all default button styles, tried it on our checkout page last Tuesday and the submit button turned invisible on Firefox for 3 hours. Maybe I'm old school, but stripping every default just to look 'clean' ignores that 15% of users still on older browsers. Anyone else feel like these resets cause more support tickets than they save?
