TIL that minmax(0, 1fr) fixes the overflow mess that plain 1fr caused in my sidebar layout
I spent about 3 hours last Saturday fighting a long email address that kept blowing out my sidebar on a dashboard build. Plain 1fr let the column grow past its container, but switching to minmax(0, 1fr) on the grid template made every track respect its space, no extra min-width hacks needed. It comes down to the auto minimum on grid tracks, which won't shrink below the content size unless you tell it to. Does anyone here use a different fix for long unbreakable strings in a grid, or is minmax(0, 1fr) the go to now?
