That talk with my buddy about grid areas changed my whole approach

I was complaining to my friend Dave about how my layouts kept breaking on smaller screens and he just said 'you're nesting too much, stop thinking in rows and start naming your spaces.' He showed me how he uses grid-template-areas with one simple media query and everything just snaps into place. Now I'm redoing my whole portfolio site with that method. Has anyone else had a conversation that made a dumb CSS trick suddenly click for them?

Wait - one media query and that's it?

Keep it simple, one query is plenty for a basic layout. You don't need 20 breakpoints if you design with mobile first in mind. Most people overcomplicate this stuff.
