Paying $250 for a Grid Cheat Sheet, still hand-counting everything

Bought a fancy CSS Grid generator pack last month and it spits out code that never matches my mental map, so I end up rewriting it by hand anyway. Is the tool trash or am I just stuck in old habits, who else has burned cash on something similar?

The mental map thing is exactly the catch, generators skip the part where you actually build the layout in your head and just give you the final result. So you're always second-guessing the output because it never matches how you got there. Might be worth ditching the pack and just spending an afternoon forcing yourself to write grids from scratch, that stuck way better for me than any cheat sheet ever did.
