Overheard a barista talk about grid lines and it clicked for me

I was grabbing coffee in Portland last week and heard this barista telling a coworker about how they line up the syrup bottles on the counter using a fixed pattern, not just eyeballing it. Made me think about how I set up my dashboard cards with CSS Grid, I always used auto-fit and let things squish around. After that I tried using fixed named areas for the top row and it kept everything so much steadier on resize. Anybody else have a random real world moment that changed how you structure columns?
