Auto-fit vs auto-fill finally made sense after 3 late nights

I kept using auto-fit everywhere because the tutorials said it was the cool kid, but my cards looked terrible on smaller screens and I couldn't figure out why. Took a messy project at 2am to realize auto-fill keeps the empty tracks so the layout doesn't collapse, now I pick based on whether I want content to stretch or stay put. Anyone else have a grid property they avoided forever until one stupid bug forced them to learn it?
