A dev on my team said subgrid would fix our card layout, and I owe him lunch now
We had this row of pricing cards where the headings were all different lengths, so the buttons never lined up across columns. I hacked it with fixed min-heights and it broke every time someone changed the copy. My teammate Dan kept saying "just use subgrid on the card body" and I blew him off for two weeks because I thought support was still spotty. Finally tried it, three lines of CSS later everything lined up perfectly and the min-heights were gone. Anyone else sleeping on subgrid for stuff like this, or is it just me?
Wait, TWO WEEKS?? You sat there fighting min-heights for two weeks while Dan was just watching you suffer knowing the whole time? That is so funny to me. We had the exact same thing with our blog post cards, titles would be one line on some and three lines on others, and the read more links were bouncing all over the place. I kept adding padding hacks and it looked fine until someone wrote a long headline and the whole grid went sideways.
