A cashier's question about my grocery list fixed my grid rows

I was standing in line at the Kroger on 12th street last Tuesday, and the cashier glanced at the little lined paper I had my shopping list on. She asked why I always grouped items in rows of four when my cart could hold more. That got me thinking about how I set up my CSS Grid tracks, always defaulting to neat equal columns without thinking about the actual content size. Now I use auto-fit with minmax more often, and my product cards in the online store I run look way less stiff. Has anyone else had a random real world comment that changed how they set up their grid columns?
