Warning: drop the transform: translateZ(0) GPU hack, it backfired on my animated grid
I used to slap transform: translateZ(0) on every animated element to force GPU layers, until a dev on my team pointed out it was spawning 40+ extra compositor layers and making my masonry grid janky on older phones. I cut it down to just the two elements that actually repaint, and the scroll got smooth again without any of the hack. Has anyone else found that less compositor trickery beats more, or am I the only one who had to learn this the hard way?
