DAE think grid-area line names are cleaner than auto-placement, or am I just stuck in my ways?
Spent 3 hours last Thursday fighting a dashboard layout where auto-placement kept shoving my sidebar below the fold at 1024px. Turned out the fix was naming four grid lines and pinning the sidebar with grid-area, maybe 15 minutes of actual work once I saw it. One side says auto-placement keeps markup lean and lets the browser do the math, the other says explicit line names save you in a debug session at 11pm. I keep flip flopping on which is worth it for real projects. What do you all reach for when a layout has to hold up across 5 breakpoints?
