My first CSS art piece took 14 hours and looked like a blob

Last month I decided to try making a simple coffee cup using just divs and border-radius. I spent a whole Saturday tweaking box-shadow values to get the handle right. After 14 hours it still looked more like a weird blob than a mug. I showed it to a friend who does front-end work and he just laughed. He pointed out I forgot to use pseudo-elements for the steam effect. Has anyone else put way too much time into a CSS drawing that turned out terrible?

Bro those 14 hour blob projects are basically a rite of passage lol. The thing that helped me was starting with just one simple shape like a circle and getting that perfect before adding anything else. Pseudo-elements are a lifesaver for steam, shadows, or any kind of floating detail. Also border-radius can get real weird real fast if you don't use percentages instead of fixed pixels. Just call it abstract art and move on, that's what I did with my first disaster.

Nah, 14 hours for a blob is honestly pretty good for a first try.
