CSS art took me 4 hours and 20 minutes for a simple gradient sunset last night

I was up until 1am trying to make a sunset scene with just CSS gradients and box shadows. Last week I thought I had it perfect but the sky looked like a bruised banana. Three years ago I wouldn't even know how to start but now I'm obsessed and also kinda hating it. How do you guys handle the frustration when your code looks nothing like the picture in your head?

Disagree completely. Stepping away is the worst advice because you lose your momentum and that critical eye you had when you were deep in the code. The real trick is to bash through the frustration in one sitting like a brick wall, because the moment you close your editor you forget exactly why that one color looked off. Just embrace the bruised banana sky and keep tweaking until your eyes water, that's how you actually learn what works.

Read somewhere that even pros on CodePen trash like 10 versions before they get one they show anyone. Maybe the frustration is just part of getting better at translating what's in your head to pixels. Probably helps to step away for a day and come back with fresh eyes.
