Wasted $50 on a 'masterclass' writing prompt book that was all fluff
I bought this thick book of writing prompts online, thought it would help me break out of my slump, but it was just 300 pages of 'write about a door' with no follow-up or structure. Every prompt was either too vague or super specific to fantasy worlds I don't care about. Has anyone else fallen for a hyped-up writing resource that was basically empty calories?

300 pages of "write about a door"? That's a total ripoff. Those kinds of books are just a cash grab for people who don't know what real writing advice looks like. A good prompt should give you a starting point and maybe a direction, not just a single word that leaves you staring at a blank page again. You paid for someone's half-baked idea that they threw together in a weekend. Better off using free websites or even just opening a random Wikipedia article for inspiration. Sorry you got burned on that one.

Nah, a simple prompt like that can actually unlock something deeper if you let it...
