Tried writing a horror scene at 3 AM last night and pumped out 12 pages of garbage
I was sitting in my living room with just a laptop and one of those dim reading lamps, trying to capture a really eerie mood for a short story about a haunted storage unit. Instead of getting creepy tension, I ended up writing this mess where the main character spent THREE paragraphs describing the texture of a cardboard box. I deleted the whole thing this morning and started fresh with just a single creepy detail: a padlock that won't click shut. Has anyone else had a late-night writing session just completely backfire like that?

Three paragraphs describing a cardboard box? That's wild, man. I would have closed the laptop right then and gone to bed.
