That character's backstory in my Denver prompt got zero traction, but the plot twist nobody asked for exploded
Last month I posted a prompt about a librarian who loses her memory every time it rains, crammed with five paragraphs of lore, and it got 3 upvotes, then I stripped it to one line about a coffee cup that never empties and suddenly 200 people had theories, so why do we keep overbuilding the setup when readers clearly want the weird hook first?
