Showerthought: I found a prompt hack on a wall at the Chicago Public Library
Last Saturday I was killing time on the 3rd floor of the Harold Washington Library in Chicago and found a chalkboard wall where people write story starters. One prompt was just 4 words: 'The vending machine apologized.' Somebody had taped a handwritten page next to it, a whole scene about a machine that says sorry every time it eats your dollar. I wrote my own version on the back of a receipt and it turned into 800 words that night. Now I take a photo of that wall every time I go, and I have 11 prompts saved on my phone. What weird public spot has given you a prompt you actually used?
