Hit a personal best at the open mic night in Denver last Tuesday

I finally read a 3-page story I have been working on for 8 months. The crowd laughed at the right parts and a woman came up after to say she cried during the sad part. I have been too scared to share my stuff with strangers for years. Has anyone else had a big moment like that at a local reading or workshop?

130 shows in 8 months isnt even that much work for a 3 page story man. I used to sit through open mics where people read half finished drafts and honestly most of the crowd is just being nice because they feel bad. Getting one cry from a stranger is fine but it doesnt mean the story is actually good yet it just means she was in a mood.

Honestly I read somewhere that even famous writers bombed open mics for years before anything clicked.
