DAE get stuck when the prompt says "write about a door" and your brain just shows you a door
Sat at my kitchen table last Tuesday with a prompt about a locked door and stared at it for 40 minutes before writing a single word. I kept trying to force some deep meaning onto it, and everything came out sounding like a bad riddle from a fortune cookie. Finally I just wrote about the actual back door of my grandma's house in Toledo that always stuck in the summer, and the words came out in like 10 minutes. Turns out I was fighting the wrong part of the prompt the whole time. Does anyone else have a trick for getting past the urge to make a simple prompt mean something huge?
