Why I regret spending $400 on that AI video generator subscription

I signed up for a year of Synthesia last January thinking it would save me hours of studio time making social clips. After 8 months I've used it maybe 4 times because the avatars look creepy and the lip sync is always off by a half second. My buddy at a local production house in Austin warned me it wasn't ready for real work but I figured he was being too picky. Now I'm stuck with 4 more months of a subscription I barely touch and I could have just hired a real editor for those 4 videos. Has anyone else gotten burned by these AI tools that promise to replace actual creative studio work?

Same thing happened to me with a $300 Runway subscription last year. I used it twice for some test clips and they looked like uncanny valley nightmares with the wrong mouth movements. If you still have those 4 months left, try using it for rough draft storyboards instead of finished content. You can throw your script in, grab the timing and shot ideas, then hand that off to a human editor who can actually make it look right. Saves you some money and at least the subscription isn't a total waste that way.

Ugh, that sucks so much! I totally get it, and @the_gray's idea about using it for rough storyboards is actually pretty smart if you're stuck with the subscription anyway.
