That $80 cloud storage plan that cost me a whole shoot

Back in March I signed up for a fancy cloud backup service for my studio files. Thought it would save time, the auto sync thing sounded great. Paid $80 for the year upfront. Last week I needed an old project file and the app had corrupted the folder structure. Took me 2 days and a data recovery guy in Phoenix to sort it out. Now I just use a cheap external drive and manual uploads. Has anyone else gotten burned by these auto sync services or am I just unlucky?
