Renting a green screen studio for an afternoon nearly broke my audio setup

I booked a small space in Portland for 4 hours to shoot a product demo, but the HVAC hum was so loud that my lav mic picked up this constant rumble, and I spent the whole session trying to hide it in post instead of actually filming what are you all doing about background noise in shared studios?

Honestly I used to think any space with decent lights was good enough, but then I hit a similar HVAC nightmare and now I bring a cheap portable recorder everywhere and just record room tone for 30 seconds before I start. It saves my butt every single time since you can sometimes use it to mask the hum with a noise gate.
