Overheard a producer say clients only care about loudness, not quality
Was at a mix session in Nashville last month and a guy bragged he pushes everything to -6 LUFS with a limiter and calls it done. I think that's lazy and ignores what actually makes a track feel alive. Anyone else finding clients actually notice dynamic range when you show them the difference?

You mentioned "pushing everything to -6 LUFS with a limiter" and that's exactly the kind of thing that makes me wonder... do those producers ever actually listen to their own mixes on cheap earbuds or a car stereo? I had a client last year who insisted on that super squashed sound, then came back after a week saying the track felt flat and boring compared to the unmastered version. So what happened when you showed your clients the difference? Did they actually hear it, or did they just nod along and go back to wanting the loudness?

@wren301 it's like people choosing filters on photos till nothing looks real anymore, isn't it.
