My scanner just died mid-project and lost a 4-hour batch of artwork
My Epson flatbed scanner decided to give up on me last Tuesday, right in the middle of digitizing 40 pages of hand-drawn storyboards for a client pitch. I was on hour 4 when the light bar just flickered and stopped, no error codes or anything. I already had a bad feeling when I couldn't find my backup drives, so I lost every single scan from that session. Tried rebooting swapping cables, nothing worked. Now I'm sitting here redoing the whole batch on my phone camera at half the quality. Any recommendations on a solid scanner under $300 that won't die on a random deadline?

Phone camera scans are brutal. Get a Brother ADS-1700W.

Did that thing where you take a picture of a document with your phone and it comes out looking like a crime scene photo? Yeah, those scanners are a lifesaver, I got a cheap one last year and haven't touched my phone for docs since. The difference is like night and day, no trying to get the right angle or lighting.
