Had to pick between a big open studio space or a smaller one with better light
I was looking for a new spot for my small video team (just three of us) and found two places in the same building. One was a huge, 800 square foot room on the ground floor, super cheap for the size. The other was half that size on the top floor, way more money, but it had these massive north-facing windows. I went with the smaller, brighter one, even though it felt like a splurge. Honestly, the natural light changed everything about our shoots. We don't need as many big lights, and the mood in the room is just better for creative work. The big space would have been a dark cave we'd have to fill with gear and fake light. After six months here, I'm sure it was the right call, even with the higher rent. Anyone else faced a similar choice between space and a specific feature that changed your work?

It's wild how often the cheaper, bigger option is actually the WORST deal. You end up paying for space you have to fill with stuff to make it work. The right feature, like your light, saves you money and hassle in the long run.

Oh man, tell me about it. I bought a giant cheap couch once because it was such a "good value." Now I have a living room that's just a couch sea, and I had to go buy a bigger coffee table and floor lamps just so the room didn't look empty. That "deal" cost me hundreds extra in filler furniture. Your light example is perfect, the right tool for the job always wins.
