Adobe's puppet warp tool finally clicked for me after 2 years of frustration

I always thought puppet warp was a gimmick for people who didn't want to learn proper rigging. But last week I had to fix a character pose in a client's illustration and the deadline was 3 hours away. I threw a few pins on the arm and shoulder and bent the whole thing into position in about 90 seconds. No redrawing, no layer masks, just one smooth move. It saved me from a late night and the client loved the result. Has anyone else had a tool they avoided suddenly become their go-to?

Honestly I still find puppet warp kind of a crutch. Ive been doing character work for about 12 years now and learning proper bone rigging in After Effects or even just using the transform tools with parenting took me a while but it gives way more control. That said if it saved you from a late night that's a win for sure. I just think people skip learning the fundamentals because they see a quick fix like puppet warp and then they never really understand why it sometimes warps everything including the background.

12 years and still salty about puppet warp. Sounds like a personal problem.
