Warning: That 'bargain' rigging sling cost me a whole afternoon and $400

Found a 4-ton sling online for half the price of my usual supplier, figured it was worth a shot. The thing looked fine out of the bag, but the stitching started to fray on the second lift of a steel beam job. Had to stop everything, send my oiler to the nearest supply house for a proper one, and eat the delay. Anyone know a good, honest supplier that won't sell junk?

Man, that "looked fine out of the bag" line hits home. I once bought a cheap strap that held together just long enough for me to get my truck perfectly stuck. Spent more on the tow than I saved on the strap. It's a lesson you only need to learn once.

That "lesson you only need to learn once" is so true, @river183. I read a piece about how our brains are wired to go for the cheap option in the moment. It ends up costing more in stress and money later, just like your tow truck.
