Vent: swept the drum with the wrong bristle broom for 2 years and a rigger from Beaumont finally said something
Was prepping the drum before a pour last Tuesday. Guy on the ground crew, been rigging out of Beaumont for 20 years, looks up and says "you trying to scratch that thing up?" Turns out my stiff bristle broom was putting fine grooves in the drum face that I just never looked close enough to see. Grabbed a soft one from the supply trailer and the wear pattern on the rope has already evened out after a month. What broom you all running on your drums?
Did the same thing with a nylon brush on mine, took a guy from the next crew pointing out the swirl marks before I switched. What kind of rope are you running? I went to a soft horsehair and the wear looks way more even now, though your mileage may vary depending on how much mud you're dealing with.
