Vent: Fought the wind on a 90 foot panel pick in Amarillo and I still don't know if I did right
Two weeks ago I was setting precast panels at a site off I-40 in Amarillo, and the wind jumped from 8 to 22 mph right as my 90 footer came off the truck. I could've boomed down and waited it out, or kept the tag line tight and rode it to the deck, and I chose to ride it. Panel kissed the guide brackets with maybe an inch to spare. Foreman said I got lucky, my operator said I read the load right, so now I'm second guessing myself. Do you wait out a gust like that or trust your gut and keep it moving?

Twenty two mph with 90 feet of panel is no joke, and riding it out worked so who cares what the foreman says. Two things though, did you have a wind meter on the deck and is there a written cutoff in your lift plan? If that plan says stop at 20 you already know the answer, and next time that answer keeps you clear of a bad day.
