Tbh I just blew $300 on a 'smart' crane level that was dumber than a box of rocks

Honestly, I saw this ad for a digital level that promised perfect precision for setting up on uneven ground. Ngl, I got excited and ordered it. The thing arrived, and the battery died after 15 minutes in the cold, and the readings jumped around more than a kid on a sugar rush. Ended up having to redo the whole setup with my old trusty bubble levels, which cost me half a day's work. Anyone else have a gadget that totally let them down?

My $200 laser measure was just as useless.

Ugh, tell me about it. My buddy bought one to map out his new apartment. He tried to measure his living room and it kept giving him a different number every single time, like it couldn't even see a plain white wall from ten feet away. He ended up using a piece of string he found in a drawer. Total waste of money.

Oh man, that EXACT same thing happened to me. I bought a fancy Bosch one for a kitchen remodel and it would just flash error messages at me if there was ANY direct sunlight in the room. Ended up borrowing my neighbor's old tape measure and got the job done in five minutes flat. The trick is you have to use these things in complete darkness or on overcast days, which is basically useless when you're trying to measure a room you LIVE in. Also they hate shiny surfaces and dark colors, so good luck measuring anything useful. Honestly I think they're made for construction guys who work in empty buildings with flat drywall, not for normal people doing normal stuff around the house.
