Showerthought: Noticed a big difference in my picks after I stopped using gloves for 6 months

I used to wear heavy rigger gloves every day for 8 years, then went barehanded last spring on a job in Nashville and my grip awareness improved so much that I can feel the load shift before it even happens, anyone else ditch gloves for better control?

Honestly I used to think gloves were just part of the job and never questioned it, but your point about feeling the load shift before it happens really made me rethink that. I switched to just some thin mechanics gloves after reading this and my hands feel way more connected to what I'm lifting now. Kinda crazy how much you miss when you block out that feedback with heavy gloves lol.

and @noah_black nailed it with that thin mechanics glove thing. i started using those after my barehanded phase cause my hands were getting torn up on rough lumber but i swear i can still feel every little vibration through them. it's like the difference between driving a car with power steering vs without - you just get way more road feel. plus my calluses actually stay intact now instead of getting shredded by heavy leather all day.
