Showerthought: a 20 year guy in Houston got on my case about my swing brake, and he was dead on
About 6 months ago I was running a 60 ton on a tilt-up job outside Houston and an old hand walked by and asked why I was letting the load drift 2 feet before stopping it. I got defensive at first, but he showed me I was riding the swing brake instead of letting the hydraulic brake do the work, which was heating things up and making my stops sloppy. Started easing off the pedal and letting the brake catch the load on its own, and my spotting got way smoother within a week, plus the brake runs cooler on long days. Curious if any of you were taught to feather the pedal like I was, or if letting the brake grab is how most of you run it.
