Load spun on me during a pick in Oakland, here is what saved it

I was on a Liebherr LTM 1090 doing a steel beam pick near the port in Oakland about 3 weeks ago. The rigging was seated fine, but the wind gusted to 25 knots right as I lifted past 15 feet, and the load started rotating slow but steady. I set it back down before it gained any momentum, re-rigged with a tag line on the far end, and had the ground guy hold tension the whole way up. No damage, but it cost us an extra 20 minutes and the site super gave me a look. Has anyone else dealt with a spin that started only after a certain height, and did you fix it with tag lines or by changing your pick points?

Ha! I swear loads can smell when you're already behind schedule and just decide to mess with you for fun. Same thing happened to me on a bridge job, and I wasted a full hour trying to "fix" my pick points before I finally gave up and just had two guys hold tag lines like I should've from the start. Wind is a liar, and so is my confidence in rigging math apparently.
