I tried using a shorter boom on a tight site and it made things worse
Got a job at a warehouse downtown last month with super tight alley access. Everyone told me to use a smaller crane with a shorter boom to fit, but I figured I could make my usual 80-footer work if I got the angle right. Wrong. I spent 3 hours repositioning because the shorter boom just couldn't reach the pick points without hitting the building. Learned that you really need to map out the swing radius and boom angle beforehand, not just guess. Has anyone else had a setup backfire like that?

Swapped out my 80 footer for a 60 footer on a tight one and ended up jackknifed against a loading dock. Real bad time. Sketching the arc beforehand woulda saved me hours.

Man that sucks. Nothing worse than that sick feeling when you know you've misjudged it.
