I hit 1,000 safe lifts on the same tower crane last week and nobody at the site even blinked
Last Tuesday I logged lift number 1,000 on the Potain at the Riversedge job in Fort Worth, and I only know because I keep my own tally in a notebook. Not one guy on that crew said a word, which tells you how backwards our priorities are. We celebrate a beam getting set early but not a thousand picks with no dropped load and no close calls. I started counting after a near miss back in March where a strap slipped and I still get a knot in my gut thinking about it. Numbers like that should matter more than hitting a pour date, plain and simple. Do any of you track your own lift counts or am I wasting my time with the notebook?

Man I feel this in my bones. I keep a tally in the notes app on my phone for every pick I make on the Liebherr at our site, and I'm sitting at 647 right now. Nobody cares but me, but that number is the only proof I've got that I'm doing this right every single day. My old foreman told me once that the best operators are the boring ones, and a thousand safe lifts is about as boring as it gets. Keep writing it down, that notebook is worth more than any safety poster they hang in the trailer.
