I finally called the load chart bluff on a 40 ton pick in Bakersfield
Was setting a 12,000 lb HVAC unit on a rooftop out in Bakersfield and my gut said the boom angle was too flat for the radius we had. I stopped the swing, walked the tape out myself and we were about 4 feet past what the chart allowed at that angle. We backed off, reset the truck and picked it clean, but the rigger gave me grief for the 20 minute delay. What's your go to way to shut down a pick when the guy on the ground swears the chart is fine?
