Hit my 2000th hour in the cab last month without even keeping track

I was looking back at my logbook for something else and saw I passed 2000 hours back in October. Nobody told me when I hit it, no little flag popped up or anything. It just kinda snuck up on me. I remember my first tower crane setup took like 12 hours and now I can do a full load in 4. Has anyone else had a milestone sneak past them like that?

My old boss used to keep a tally on a whiteboard for each crane setup we did. I hit 500 sets without ever looking at the board until someone mentioned it. But honestly, 2000 hours in a cab isn't that wild. That's like two years of full time work if you're doing nothing else. I'd be more impressed if you hit 2000 hours without ever having to pee in a bottle. Now that's a milestone.

Yeah, that opened my eyes a bit. I used to think racking up hours in a cab was the ultimate flex, like you're some kind of iron man operator. But now I see it's more about the QUALITY of the work, not just the quantity. Rose is right, two years straight in a cab is just showing up. The real skill is handling the weird, the tight spaces, and the weather without losing your cool. I'd take a guy with a thousand focused, smart hours over someone with five thousand hours of just banging through the motions any day. That bottle thing made me laugh too, but it's actually a damn good point about real world conditions.
