Got a 14 ton slab hung up on a single sway cable for 45 minutes yesterday

I was setting a precast panel on a job site near the river and the wind kicked up just enough to twist the load around one cable. No big deal I thought, I will just bump it over. But that thing spun three times before I got it settled. 45 minutes of jockeying the boom and fiddling with tag lines while the foreman just stood there watching. How many of you keep spare snatch blocks in your truck for this kind of nonsense?

Buddy of mine had a precast panel get hung up on a single cable during a bridge job. Wind caught it and that thing started doing donuts like a shopping cart. He ended up having to set it down on some cribbing and wait out the breeze.

Oh man, that's terrifying. Glad no one got hurt with that thing spinning wild like that.
