Appreciation post: The time my 50-ton Grove started swinging sideways on a hospital build in Austin
I was lifting ductwork onto a rooftop for a new wing at St. David's. Wind gusted up to 25 mph and the load started a 4-foot wobble. I set it down fast on a flatbed and waited 30 minutes for it to calm. No damage, but the foreman chewed me out for not checking the forecast. Has anyone else had to abort a lift mid-air like that?

Oh honey, that wasn't really "aborted mid-air" - you already had it set down on the flatbed BEFORE you decided to wait it out. That's just good sense, not a mid-air abort. I'd say you handled it fine, but the foreman had a point about the forecast check.

Oh wow, so it was more about setting it down before the wobble got worse? But like, how long did you actually have the load in the air before you felt it start to swing? Was it just a few seconds or did it build up slow?
