TIL booking labor through the union hall beats my old private list in Seattle

I used to call three former foremen and piece together a crew for every slab pour. Took 2 days of phone tag and I still got no-shows. Switched to the local union dispatch 8 months ago after a guy flaked on a 6 AM foundation at Northgate. Now I submit my skill needs by 3 PM and get vetted guys by 6. The hourly rate runs about $4 more, but I've had zero call-offs since. Has anyone else found the hall more reliable even with the markup?
