The old superintendent who told me to stop using paper logs

Back in 2019 on a job site in Austin, this gray-haired superintendent named Ron told me to ditch my paper daily logs for a tablet app. I thought he was just being lazy, but after three months of using it I realized I was saving about 2 hours a week on paperwork and could actually find old notes. Has anyone else had a piece of advice from an older guy that totally changed how you work?

Just gently point out that paper logs were probably saving him time too, just differently.

Grace... that's a good point actually. My dad used to swear by his paper logbook back when he drove for a living. He'd spend maybe 5 minutes each night writing everything down, nice and slow, and he said it helped him remember the whole day better than any app ever could. Funny how we think digital is always faster when sometimes the old way had its own kind of rhythm to it. Guess it depends what you're saving time for in the end.
