Spent two full days trying to get a single concrete pour signed off

The city inspector kept flagging the rebar spacing, even though our prints matched the code book. We had to pull the whole crew off another site just to re-measure every single bar. Has anyone else had a city guy be this picky over a quarter inch?

Wondering if some of these guys get paid by the flag. Kellymurphy's slump story tracks, it's like they forget we're building a house not a watch. Seen this happen more when the city hires a new third party inspection firm trying to prove their worth. Makes you miss the old guys who understood the spirit of the code.

Half an inch of slump seems like a tiny thing to get hung up on... I mean it's still concrete, it's not gonna fall apart.

Tell me about it, right? We had an inspector make us redo a whole footer pour over a half inch of slump once.
