Had a perfect drywall finish day last Thursday after 3 months of fighting seams
Every taped joint came out smooth on the first pass, no bubbles or ridges, and the GC even stopped to say it looked better than his usual crew's work - what's your secret for getting mud to lay flat every time?

but honestly a perfect finish usually means you're just hiding bigger problems behind all that mud.

Nah @the_diana you're not wrong but I think people focus way too much on the surface stuff anyway. A perfect finish just means you took the time to do it right, not that you're hiding termites or bad framing. You can have both a solid structure and a clean wall. It's not one or the other. Plenty of builders out there doing legit work and still making it look good.

Man, termites in a perfect finish. That's a nightmare scenario right there. You spend all that time smoothing and painting, and underneath it's basically sawdust holding up the wall. I'd be livid if I found that after paying for a job.
