Got a call from a builder in Boise last Tuesday about a foundation that was already poured with the wrong rebar spacing

The inspector flagged it after the concrete was down, and now we're looking at a $15,000 fix to core drill and add dowels, has anyone else dealt with an approved drawing getting missed like that?

Did they at least catch it before the pour went in? I've seen guys try to hide the wrong gauge in the middle of a slab and it always comes back to bite someone later. That sinking feeling when you realize the inspector is gonna flag it... man, it's rough. You end up having to demo half the work or pay for a structural engineer to sign off on it, neither option is cheap. Really feel for anyone dealing with that mess right now.
