Found my old foreman's trick for concrete cure time and it saved my schedule last week

We had a driveway pour in Portland that needed to be walkable in 3 days for a homeowner who was throwing a party. I kept pushing the pour back because the forecast had rain coming. My old foreman from 15 years back used to lay plastic sheeting right after the final float and barely water it after that. I tried it on this job, kept the plastic on for 36 hours, and the slab was solid enough for foot traffic by day 2.5. The homeowner texted me saying the concrete looked better than the neighbor's who waited 5 days. Has anyone else gone back to the old plastic method instead of those fancy curing compounds? I used to think the chemicals were better but now I'm not so sure.
